Birthday Battle: Bracket 3

The third Bracket is open! What’s all this about you ask? Read our first article to find out more info, then keep your eyes peeled on our social sites to place your votes. The dates are at the bottom for your reference.

Mick’s Selection

There are many things in life I struggle with: balance, co-ordination, memory, being way too forgiving (which my counsellor assures me is a character flaw), flatulence and foul language (I don’t struggle to have those two, rather I have an unfortunate excess). One thing I am rarely short of is ideas, so this was more of a “cutting them down” process rather than a “thinking of them” one. As I’m only on the peripherals of the GKG creative process I have the luxury of spraying ideas out like the Firespitter in an enclosed space, without having to do the hard work of making them real, so this should be interesting!

Flintlock the Knife

I have many unwritten rules of Moonstone that I am prone to quote during games, and one of those is ‘never fight Flintlock without his Rifle’. This may seem counter-intuitive, but in my experience every single time he’s blown his load and been reduced to knife-work, he has absolutely murdered everything and everyone I’ve ever sent against him. I would love to see an alternate Flintlock, his rifle exploded outward like Elmer Fudd’s shotgun, knife in one hand ready to give his opponent the pointy end. If nothing else it would remind me not to fight him!

The Wendigo is Terrifying

Whilst I do love all of the Moonstone models for their character and beauty, like children there will always be a least favourite, and for mine it is the Wendigo. The hunched pose and emaciated frame are beautifully threatening but I just want them to be a bit… bigger? I want some board presence! I want this guy/girl/thing to look as terrifying as the rules say they are! I’d like a truly ferocious Wendigo, standing tall with enemy corpse in hand, mid feast! I want to look across the table at this bad boy and think “nope, not today!”

Dim & Dimmer, “Why are you hitting yourself?”

So far our only two headed giant, Dim and Dimmer, is a stunning model with a mix of armour, furs and other details that make them a joy to paint. I wouldn’t change anything about these squabbling big boys except the pose - I dearly, dearly want to see a ‘2 Stooges’ style D&D where he is actively beating the snot out himself, eye gouging, hair pulling, kicking himself in the shin. I want to see these two having a sibling rivalry for the ages!

Bathtime of the Forgotten King

I kinda wanted to pick a Shade to keep things balanced, but at the same time, I really like all the Shades models! (Possibly because they were the first real project I helped on.) After a lot of thought, I realised the only Shade model I’d love to see is King Chernitt in a bath. The ‘Echo’ isn’t Chernitt’s physical presence, rather a spirit form he’s sent out to cause mayhem where he can’t personally attend. I imagine Igor calling him into battle at an unfortunate time and the king appearing with bathtub and rubber duck, caught scrubbing his back he scowls at Igor before taking his ‘battle’ form. I think this could be a stunning little mini-diorama, and really feel the whimsy!
