Tom’s Selection
I have the dubious task of choosing the fourth and final bracket options for 10th Birthday Battle miniature. Like the rest of the team I have more than four ideas – a lot more in fact, but once I drop a choice from the running there is no chance of the others happening on the same idea so it felt extra tough! As the first model ever made, the Firespitter would absolutely have made my list, but as Joe already choose it, that at least frees up one slot. My guiding principal for selection was nostalgia so I’ve mainly be looking back at the earlier models we produced, and thinking about how they might be celebrating. So without further ado, I present for your consideration the following.
Gotchgut Celebrates with Syd
Gotchgut was the first big guy model we made so it naturally grabbed my attention for nostalgia value. It tickled me way back in the day that he was the Egg and Crown’s uncontested drinking champion, until Vicious Syd came along and drank him under the table. So the idea is to show the OG drinking duo reunited and toasting to 10 years. Vicious Syd could be perched on his shoulder (as a fully separate piece so non-goblin troupes who use Gotchgut can have him raising a tankard alone if they prefer).
Agatha and her Bar-Stool
Talking of Gotchgut and Syd, sometimes party revellers take things a little bit too far and when they do, Agatha is more than capable of restoring order. Often with a well aimed bar-stool direct to the dome of the naer-do-well. This limited edition would be exactly that - the normally amenable Agatha, in full ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ mode, battering someone with a bar-stool!
The Beast in Beast-Mode
Sulking alone in his derelict manor house, nothing angers The Beast more than being awoken by the raucous din of Commonwealth peasants having a good time. The idea of this sculpt is The Beast in full angry mode, torn clothes, hairy chest on display and bellowing in rage that he wasn’t invited to the stupid party.
Nanny Plans a Kids’ Birthday Party
Most inhabitants of Tauber enjoy a slice of birthday cake (Friar Flavious in particular has been known to somewhat overindulge). But so that Shades collectors are not left out out of the celebration, I thought it could be sweet to make a full-on kids’ birthday party of the Nanny box set, complete with cake and candles, little party hats and streamers for the Babelings.
