Barnakelle
Shimmering sunlight dissipated as Barnakelle sank through the depths. The golden hue rippled and quivered, gradually transforming into deep blue.
Barnakelle looked up, watching any signs of the surface disappear. She blew out a stream of bubbles and watched them dance upwards while she sank deeper.
Her feet touched soft muddy sand that eked up over her sandles between her toes. She wiggled them and the sand tickled. She drew new seawater into her lungs and felt some of the tension leave her muscles. Boy, those goblins be raucous, she thought, ‘n dat ship be hectic!
She stayed still, absorbed in the silence, watching fishy-things glide through the water. Eventually she thought, I should go back up… She peered around, her shoulders slumping. Oh… I didn’t think about how I’d do dat… She looked left and right, then began trudging towards the anchor.
