Black Powder
“Ahhh, this be the life,” Swash said, his hand dangling in the sea, a fishing line drifting off into the blue waters.
Scowling, Peggy said, “Wha’ do ye mean, ‘This be the life’? We’ve been marooned at sea fer three days!”
“Aye, but it’s been quiet fer those three days. An’ Monkey has a mast t' climb so he’s happy, right mate?”
Powder Monkey screamed happily from atop the wonky mast, his bouncing sending the rickety raft swaying.
Peggy rooted through a rough chest. “We’ve got water fer two more days an’ grub for three—”
“Unless I catch some fish!”
“Aye, unless you catch some fish. We jus' needs t' hope a ship comes close soon—”
Powder Monkey squealed and bounced again, waving a loose piece of sail in the air.
“Like dat one?” Swash said, sitting up, “Flyin’ the pirate colours too, dat’s handy.”
Peggy opened her telescope. “‘Ave ye ever heard o’ the Jolly Dodger?”
