“We need to get back to the tunnels before daybreak,” Negroli muttered.
“Yeah, I know these things disappear.” Serif nudged the softly glowing moonstones piled at their feet.
“Not just that, I’ve heard these fauns can be challenging. Why else do you think the King sent the four of us?”
Serif clacked his teeth thoughtfully, but didn’t reply.
Angerboda stalked past them again, walking the perimeter of the clearing while her gaze bored into the trees beyond. Pausing, she glanced at Negroli and grunted her concern.
Pursing cracked lips Negroli strode to Greymair at the centre of the clearing, where they spoke quietly.
“Get a move hee-haw-on!” Greymair snapped at the little Psychopomps at his feet, his braying voice bouncing through the trees.
Sans glared up at him, threw down his tiny pick, and stomped over to Serif. He pulled open the flap of the shield and scampered inside, slamming it behind him. Serif stifled a chuckle, his attention caught by a nearby snapping twig.
