Administration of Justice
“I don’t understand why we’ve had to come here,” Guillemot Poppycock boomed.
Tabby looked up sharply from her desk, placing a finger on her lips she glared at them.
Old Calders mouthed, “Sorry.”
Tabby scowled, sniffed, and continued to stamp a pile of books.
Calders leaned forward and whispered, “Sir, we needed to do some research.”
“But why does that mean coming to Machburg Library?” Poppycock muttered.
“Where else would you like to research goblins?”
“Isn’t there someone who could just tell me about them?” Poppycock’s voice had raised again.
Tabby looked at them over her glasses, the stamper poised in her hand.
Calders glanced at Tabby. “Sir, I’m not sure—”
“That man Ted, I’ve heard he gives very good talks!”
Tabby angrily cleared her throat.
“Sir, I—”
“This place is so dull!”
Tabby plonked the stamp onto her desk and hissed, “Shush or leave!”
Poppycock folded his arms, rolling his eyes.
“Sorry,” Calders muttered with a placatory smile.
When Tabby was stamping books again Poppycock leaned forwards to Calders and whispered, “I bet she’d like to do the research into goblins…”
