Brunhilde the Giant
Brunhilde crept into the dark clearing, stars glittering overhead. She strode around the perimeter, looking for movement and any signs of moonstones. Eventually she stopped and leant against a tree, looking around her. She watched an owl flutter into the air across the clearing and silently glide through the trees.
When she was sure she was alone, she wandered to the middle of the clearing and thrust her arms out.
She took a deep breath and began signing. A deeply resonate, dramatic Norse Saga aria that reverberated around the clearing. Her voice rose and fell as she sang the tale of Arne and Tove, their love forbidden and complicated. Tears rolled down her cheeks, the feelings of the song taking hold. The cadenza took hold, bringing the end of the aria to a stunning climax.
She opened her eyes, the clearing silent around her.
